Earlier today, we learned that Ridley Scott is planning on making a big screen adaptation of the Moses story titled Moses, but a Biblical epic of a different sort is already gearing up to shoot. ?Director Darren Aronofsky has already set Russell Crowe in the titular lead role for Noah, and now Deadline reports that Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief) and Douglas Booth have been cast as the Biblical figure?s sons.? We previously heard that Jennifer Connelly might join the cast, and the report notes that while the role of Noah?s wife has yet to be filled, Connelly is definitely in the mix.? Hit the jump for more.
Though Liam Neeson had been mentioned for the film?s antagonist role, Deadline notes that he?s no longer involved with the project (sigh).? Booth, who stars opposite Hailee Steinfeld in the upcoming Romeo and Juliet, will play Noah?s younger son while Lerman will play the eldest of the siblings (in reality, the two actors were both born in 1992).? Apparently another role that has yet to be filled is that of a love interest for Lerman?s character.? Lerman is gearing up to film the Percy Jackson sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, but there?s no word on how Noah might affect that schedule.? Last we heard, Aronofsky was planning on beginning production on Noah next month in New York and Iceland.
Though Lerman?s recent output?Percy Jackson and The Three Musketeers?isn?t exactly Oscar-worthy material, he had a memorable turn in 2007?s 3:10 to Yuma as Christian Bale?s son and he also has a promising turn later this year in the feature adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. With filming looming closer, hopefully we hear more casting announcements regarding Noah soon.? The film is slated for a March 28th, 2014 release.
